REVIEWS OF Sarastro

Wow, what a great place! It has fantastic atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. We couldn't ask for more. We loved and will be back again for sure.

E Strong (21 January 2009)

I ate at this restaurant in May and August 08 during theatre visits to London. I returned in December 08 with three others and was disappointed and embarrassed by the appalling service we experienced. Despite booking a table beforehand, we were sat at what was clearly a waiting area usually, opposite the door, which was continually left open by people leaving and arriving. The weather was freezing and regular blasts of icy cold did not make us feel particularly comfortable. The restaurant was clearly very busy, but our drinks and food order was taken quite quickly. The drinks promptly appeared as did the one starter we had ordered. Thirty minutes later we ordered more drinks and 30 minutes after this we had to ask for the drinks again. Shortly after the mains arrived, an hour after the order had been taken. Unfortunately the sides ordered did not. By this time we ate the food in front of us, without the sides because basically we were starving and we could not get hold of any of the waiting staff - they were all too busy rushing around. When the waitress came to clear the plates away we told her the sides had not been provided and after looking very confused, she offered to go and get them. We told her not to bother, our food was eaten, and to remove them from the bill. She then took our dessert order, then 25 minutes later, came to advise that the dessert ordered by two of our party was not available and asked us to choose another. By this time we had had enough - we asked for the bill and removed the service charge, something I have never, ever done before after many years of eating at all kinds of restaurants all over the world. There was no form of apology and we left feeling very disgruntled, and vowing not to return on future visits.
