We visited on Thursday in February 2011. The restaurant was very busy and we hadn't booked a table but we were greeted very warmly and promised a table within ten minutes which we were given within five minutes. It was very difficult to decide on a main course with so many lovely dishes to choose from. We settled on the cullen skink to start and the fish pie with roasted root vegetables and red cabbage for our main course. Both dishes were absolutely superb - well presented, piping hot and so generous on the fish content which tasted divine. My husband could not resist the rice pudding with black treacle dessert to finish, which was equally as good as the rest of the meal. Siobhan, our waitress, was very professional and although never 'in your face', was certainly trained to pick up the signals from customers needing attention and only to happy to help. Superb food, wine and service and a very modest bill. This is one restaurant we shall most certainly be visiting again. The evening was the 'icing on the cake' on the last evening of our short break to a lovely, welcoming city. Thank you.

Delicious, well-priced food, wine and excellent service in the centre of town. A proper chef cooks here, and carefully. The decor is uncluttered and witty. An armchair and standard lamp block one side of a short staircase to the upper level, cleverly shielding a table for four. This restaurant is a delightful oasis in a sea of fast-food establishments and I can't recommend it highly enough. We ate an excellent green Thai curry Friday night and wonderful fishcakes with well-dressed salad Saturday lunchtime. To the patient receptionist who waited while we faffed about finding our mobile phone number, we say thank you. We also thank the interesting, amusing and very engaging people who served us with such courtesy. We had a really great time, have recommended you to lots of friends, and will be back. You deserve to do well. Thank you.
