Sen Nin takes on a distinctly theatrical approach to Japanese cooking, where chefs play the dual role of being entertainers in addition to showcasing their culinary skills. If a communal dining experience is not your kind of thing, then wait till you've stepped in to one of their outlets in Camden and Islington, where the swooshing teppan and a series of flips and twirls by the chefs is certainly amusing to watch.

On the food side there are appetisers to inspect first, skewers of chicken breast marinated in yakitori sauce, steamed soy beans, and deep-fried squid or king prawns in a light tempura batter. Then it's time to savour those delightful morsels of sushi maki stuffed with salmon, tuna and avocado and cucumber, or sashimi served with pickled ginger. The set menu is a collection of mostly familiar dishes such as red snapper, sirloin steak and lamb rack, and there is a choice of three to four main courses as well as deluxe lobster meals for two to share.
