Shangri La

Ashcroft Buildings, 37 Victoria Street, Liverpool, L1 6BQ

A popular Liverpudlian place to hang out if you like your Chinese authentic in almost every way; with colours of black, green and red it looks like a version of the Chinese flag - certainly it has a vibrant look. Eating takes place on several levels with the result that there's plenty of space when the droves turn up, as they do, particularly on Sundays. For those who like their dim sum the choices are extensive to the point where it is all too easy to forget that there is more to life, by which time it is usually too late. Whilst there are all the usual choices on the menu, sweet & sour, etc, there are also quite a few more esoteric one, which the adventurous should try as they repay the risk, though braised seas slugs might not be to everyone's taste.

REVIEWS OF Shangri La

Lollipop1 (2 October 2011)

Went here Saturday night after a nice day and night enjoying the one day of sun. The food was nothing special and just ordered soups 1 round of drinks and a platter between 5 of us that had one each for us 1 rib, 1 prawn toast etc... Tried to charge us £91 which I thought was disgusting and after discussing this with the manager he then went round tables telling everyone we weren't happy. Service was terrible. Will not be going back ever.

I really like this restaurant and go there frequently for their lunch time specials, which is very reasonable at about £7 for two courses and a drink. The service is fast, which is great when you only have an hour for lunch. I would definitely recommend it.
