Sheba

136 Brick Lane, London, E1 6RU

Home to numerous Bangladeshi and Indian immigrants, Brick Lane not surprisingly hosts a large number of curry houses, and although everyone has their own favourites, there are some like Sheba which go the extra mile. Considering that it's been around from the seventies, you might think that it's probably quite dated, but proving common misconceptions wrong much to your delight are the clean and contemporary lines of the décor, fitted out with a plasma screen TV and comfortable seating options. The menu of course still rallies on, producing appetisers of kebab cocktails and garlic king prawns before moving on to a main course of balti lamb tikka, Tandoori chicken or the special mixed biryani.

Don't miss the house specials such as lamb shatkora, tender pieces cooked in Bengali spices or the murgh Mumbai, a popular dish cooked with eggs, potatoes and tomatoes. There's also the very interesting duck narang, breast meat cooked in coconut cream and mild orange sauce.

REVIEWS OF Sheba

Patrice (4 June 2010)

Very good food! The chicken is just amazing!

Jenny (2 May 2010)

One of the best curry houses in London for good food, good service at very reasonable prices. Worth going if you are looking for real tasty Bangladeshi and Indian dishes. Something different from your typical chicken tikka masala!
