Sheldrakes Restaurant Description
Idyllically situated on the banks of the River Dee, Sheldrake's offers the pleasing combination of good food, enviable scenery and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The rustic decor and beachside location will transport you from Lower Heswall to the Mediterranean coast as soon as you step through the door.
The menu combines fresh and exciting foreign flavours with more traditional dishes, while their extensive range of beers and wines provides the perfect accompaniment to your meal. In true Mediterranean style, both diners and drinkers are welcome at any time of the day or evening.
Sunday lunches are a bit special at Sheldrakes as they offer a four course carvery at £17.95 for adults and £9.95 for children under 10; this includes a traditional roast that can be enjoyed on the terrace, in the bistro or the conservatory, whilst in the summer they have a three course barbecue at £20 and £9.95 respectively.
Fixed Lunch
- £17.95 (4 course carvery), Sun

I am personally delighted by the honest, down to earth, yet still professional and near perfect, service and food at Sheldrakes.
My Dad had his second marriage there over a year ago and it was unanimous, from the customer service to the food (that was prepared for many guests arriving on time and exquisite) that every single person had had an enjoyable afternoon and evening. In fact, from what my dad and his wife's friends' saw, another couple chose to get married there just this year!
I personally know Alan and the owner Helen themselves, and I can say they are truly pleasant people with excellent restaurant management skills. I return regularly whenever I can and am yet to find something wrong there. An idyllic, calm and romantic setting, with fantastic food and drinks. One of the few nice places to eat on the Wirral for a genuine and reasonable price.
However, as a vegetarian I have expressed concern for the lack of options sometimes available on the menu. BUT, being the type of restaurant they are, have acknowledged this and even said the chef will alter any choice of mine to a vegetarian one. They even asked for any suggestions of other meals!

I agree with the previous reviewer that Sheldrakes does, indeed, have a lovely setting. The views are pretty spectacular.
However, I am a little confused by their food review. Sheldrakes does offer a full and comprehensive dinner menu and has a wide selection of side dishes and vegetables to accompany such. I wonder if they picked up a lunchtime/bar snack menu.
I have always found the food there to be delicious and great value for money and, as an events organiser/wedding planner, have now booked the venue for a private function later in the year.
