Sherpa Kitchen
132 High Street, Esher, KT10 9QJ
For residents of Esher, the Nepalese cuisine at the Sherpa Kitchen is indeed like the proverbial breath of fresh air, and combined with their faultless service, neat and smart décor it is no wonder why they are so immensely popular. The restaurant is spread over three floors including a mezzanine and everything about the tables, linen and glasses is just perfect. First timers to this interesting cuisine might want to try out the chicken livers in pastry or the delicately spiced pork dumplings for starters. Their version of the tandoor called the chuli brings about some fabulous dishes unique in character, and seafood options in this section include mullet, prawns, salmon, monkfish and squid. For residents of Esher, the Nepalese cuisine at the Sherpa Kitchen is indeed like the proverbial breath of fresh air, and combined with their faultless service, neat and smart décor it is no wonder why they are so immensely popular. Vegetarians can rejoice with main course choices such as steamed pumpkin cooked in carom seeds and their gulyo roti is doughy and beautifully textured. Ice creams and sorbets complete the picture and fine wines from the bar are well suited to keep you going.

REVIEWS OF Sherpa Kitchen
Yasmine Weeks (11 April 2012)
The sherpa kitchen is undoubtedly one of the best Nepalese restaurants i have been to. Not only is the food fabulous, but the service is amazing. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The momo starter is fantastic as are all the other dishes i have tried. My husband and i always bring friends there for dinner if they have never been and they are always won over by it by the end of the evening.
Great place, great food, great people.

For me, this is unquestionably the most underrated restaurant in Esher. If one compares it to the other 'non European cuisine' based restaurants in Esher - like the Indian, the Thai, the Lebanese and the two Chinese restaurants - it is the best in terms of value for money versus quality. Sherpa Nepalese food should not be confused with Indian Nepalese food - which is still Indian. This is very different altogether. If you like Thai, Chinese and Indian-Bangladeshi-Pakistani foods, you will very much like this. It is a type of food in its own right, but has elements that are not at all dissimilar from the above. The staff are pleasant, the service is good and I would highly recommend it. It's very easy to miss this restaurant which is located more or less directly opposite Waitrose, but is really worth it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
