Simply Lebanese
68 Old Brompton Road, London, SW7 3LQ
Simply Lebanese is just that; simple and unfussy with a natural devotion to seasonality and a fondness for that wonderful condiment called olive oil. Chef Ina'am Atalla reveals an enthusiasm for fresh herbs and subtle spices associated with Lebanese cuisine and the menu is a creative mix of dishes, each deserving a pair of culinary exclamation marks. Mouhamara, a salad of walnuts, pine nuts, cashews and almonds in a special chilli dressing and Lebanese fried spicy sausages shine in the starter section. Simple Lebanese wisely restrains itself from following the fusion route and for a main course there are some traditional dishes to be savoured such as king prawns fried and cooked in a tomato, coriander and garlic sauce, and boneless baby chicken tossed with onions, sumac and pine nuts wrapped in a special bread and baked.Simply Lebanese is just that; simple and unfussy with a natural devotion to seasonality and a fondness for that wonderful condiment called olive oil. REVIEWS OF Simply Lebanese
Stephen Morris (25 June 2008)
I found this place to have a relaxing atmosphere with a broad choice of menu. I had the foul medames as a starter, which was fresh and delicate. I chose the 'mixed grill' main course so that I could try a number of dishes. The shish taouk was especially delightful. It's well worth a visit in the near future.
David Hammond (20 January 2007)
Despite the previous carping comments, Al Bustan is without doubt an excellent restaurant employing very high standards of ingredients and preparation. I live out of London, but have lots of London restaurant experience. I have gone out of my way to eat at this restaurant on four previous occasions and intend to do so tonight after seeing Cirque du Soleil at the Albert Hall (Jan 07). Clean tasting, well presented and vibrant looking food. The co-owner has written a cook book which makes excellent reading.
