Snooty Fox, The Description
First the sad news, the former Landlord went to jail when health inspectors allegedly found a piece of mouldy ham in his kitchen, and, as a result of ill health, he had to sell the Snooty Fox.
Now the good news, Clive Dixon, who also owns Tavern on the Green, has bought it and wrought some real improvements mainly to the culinary side without spoiling the slightly old fashioned, but comfortably so, look of the place.
Tracey MacLeod of The Independent enjoyed her lunch there: "The main courses were faultless. A generous span of impeccably moist skate-wing came roasted to a crisp, golden finish. Barnsley chop - a double lamb chop served on the bone - was an outstandingly full-flavoured piece of meat, pink inside and topped with a little crown of its own fat. We weren't so sure, though, about the "fat chips" they sounded great, but in practice, had a disappointing ratio of flabby interior to surface crunch.
There's no such thing as a bad hot chocolate fondant, and when Hoppy declared that the Snooty Fox version reminded her of our school chocolate pudding, I knew she could offer no higher praise. My lemon polenta cake was a warm and springy delight. "IT'S FROM SALLY CLARKE!" yelled a voice from the kitchen area as I tucked in. One of the chefs, apparently giddy with excitement at the end of his shift, had decided to make his presence felt."

Your Reviews of Snooty Fox, The

The Snooty Fox, Lowick is a wonderful pub restaurant in a listed building in a very quiet clean and tidy village with many thatched cottages. Situated far enough off the main road that you can hear the bees buzzing and the birds singing, but that's enough about the location. You can enter at the front via the garden that has many tables and a play area for children or at the rear via a large gravelled car park. The day I visited the temperature was very warm and sunny but on entering it was nice to feel the coolness of this stone building. I was greeted warmly at the bar and the drinks were brought to our table in the bar - a nice touch. A menu was supplied and sensible time was given before being asked for my order. We then moved into the garden as the weather was so nice, not to be missed, and my booking was for forty minutes time. Later we were asked if we would be ready to eat in fifteen minutes time and we were duly shown into the restaurant at that time. The meal and I mean all of the meal was fantastic, cooked to perfection and all presented at the right temperature. Nothing was rushed and we finished with Irish coffee back in the garden. Anyone thinking of visiting should know that The Snooty Fox is under new management. I understand that the new but experienced family only took over this month.

I visited this place twice last month. The three course meal served on a Monday for £10 is amazing. The quality of the food is excellent and the wine is great. The staff are friendly and I am looking forward to go there again.
