So Wine Description

With a focus on flavours and a passion for quality service, So Wine is Tarporley's latest venue for food and wine lovers, in an area that is rather spectacularly lacking otherwise. This wine-bar restaurant has a contemporary look and a relaxed atmosphere that makes customers feel really welcome.

In the kitchen Chef Carl Noller, who originated from the Chester Grosvenor and Gordon Ramsay's Aubergine, is cooking up a storm with his exciting range of fresh modern European dishes. Behind the bar there's a decent choice of wines, champagnes and spirits - as well as interesting cocktails that should light up the evening. So for lunch, evening meal or just a drink, So Wine has added a new dimension to the local eating out and drinking scene.

Your Reviews of So Wine

Louise (12 February 2008)

My children and I visited So Wine for lunch. We waited almost an hour for soup and sandwiches. When my son's soup arrived, we naturally expected the other food to appear – it did not. In the meantime, at least four people came in and left because of the slow service. I reminded the staff that we would like our order for two sandwiches and a portion of chips, but nothing happened. We eventually gave up but were not offered any recompense. I wanted a pleasant lunch out with my children during half term and wasted over an hour and £9.20 on two teas, a hot chocolate and a bowl of soup. The staff's attitude was atrocious and I shall not be going again. More importantly for the business, I will make sure that my friends and business contacts know of this poor experience.

I was really surprised to read the negative reviews of So-Wine! We went initially after my husband tried to book Churtons, however on finding out, there were new owners and he had booked anyway. We were very pleasantly surprised and would disagree with the other comments strongly. We have told many others about our first meal there and many of our friends have since visited and enjoyed it. We found the menu to have plenty of choices with fresh market dishes of the day both in fish and meat. All the food we have had was delicious. I can honestly say the onion soup was the best I have tasted outside Paris! The Fish had been wonderful on each occasion and from every dish ordered. Last night we returned, again we had a superb meal, and both of us had tried the fresh market dishes. The market pork was divine and I could not eat three courses but my husband is a huge fan of the chocolate fondant (which of course I have tried on each occasion) This again was one of the best we have tried, and believe me, we have tried many.

All in all, I think the food was excellent, and the atmosphere lovely. We had the added advantage of meeting two lovely ladies with whom we had a wonderful evening and we will probably meet up there again. The food was not expensive for what you would get, and in fact we know it is cheaper than a gastro pub which we used to frequent as our regular. We would now be visiting So-wine, it is much further away but this is testament to the quality of the food and service. We would highly recommend!
