Sorrel Restaurant, The Description

Built in 1740, Ston Easton Park had declined into genteel ruin until it was saved and restored to its former glory in the 20th century. The result is a magnificent country house hotel in which excellence and gracious living have top priority. Period items of décor and architecture have been faithfully restored and modern additions have been added in the same vein.

The cuisine is largely traditional but modern flourishes appear every so often. The beetroot soup with confit duck ravioli commands interest, as does the turbot, herb encrusted and on a leek and pear compote with a poire William butter sauce. The wine list could be described as majestic, with house wine from £18.
