Souffle Restaurant

Souffle has a fabulous location and the dining area in front of the restaurant overlooking the green was a special touch. However, for the price of the food, I personally do not think it was worth the money. I like good food and I expect something a little special as a result of paying a fair amount for a set menu. The starters were lovely but the mains let the experience down a little by not being anything special. Something I could have made at home for example. For my dessert, I had ordered a trio of crème brulee. All three were like drinks with a hard top which were certainly not how they should have been. However, upon mentioning this to the waitress, we were offered a free drink which was appreciated.

I cannot fault the cooking I sampled on the night I went- the steak was cooked to perfection and the banana soufflé excellent. However I did think that for almost £50 per head (we only had one or two drinks each) it was far too pricey for what it was- the chef was obviously highly skilled but the portion sizes were laughably small (one floret of broccoli and half a carrot to accompany my steak and dessert spoon size portion of mash)I left still hungry. There are many restaurants I have been to where the price has been more reasonable and cooking of an equal standard in my opinion.
