Spirit Restaurant

At last, a local restaurant offering real gastronomy - first class food, unpretentiously priced and served, and impeccably cooked. My family and I had Sunday lunch - a total departure from the usual trotted-out Sunday fayre which is all too hard to escape. This is serious food for food lovers and heaven for meat eaters - the beef shoulder was meltingly succulent and the texture of the lamb was moist and perfectly tender. The sea bass and corn-fed chicken also scored highly as did the vegetable accompaniments, starters and desserts. This welcoming restaurant is wonderfully situated in a Georgian building - a real haven off the beaten track and yet so easy to find from Warrington centre or Stockton Heath. The airy interior and high ceilings create ambience and light, but as with many older buildings in winter, you may feel a little cool and it is advisable not to wear skimpy gear. I'm looking forward to many a return trip as I am determined to work my way through the menu, and let's hope this place builds up the enthusiastic clientele it deserves. Bravo, Spirit!

I got married on Saturday and we had our wedding reception at Spirit, and what an excellent choice that was. Ian, the manager, and his staff were all very accommodating and the buffet was outstanding. Almost everyone in our party is from Warrington and a lot of our guests are able to identify with the very elegant white building, the old maternity home, which has now become the Spirit Restaurant. The restaurant and bar were both superbly furnished and this, combined with the friendly service, first rate cuisine and sophisticated atmosphere make dining there a memorable experience. Thank you again to Ian and his colleagues for making such a positive contribution to our special day.
