Splinters Restaurant

Well located for visiting clergy, bellringers and congregations with business at the nearby Priory Church, Splinters offers a range of eating spaces, including a bistro fitted out in 1960's pine and a more sophisticated area known as the Blue Room. Jason Davenport, known for his dexterity at the stoves comes up with unusual combinations as well as more familiar dishes that seldom fail to please.

Choices could include: cream of cauliflower soup with sorrel; smoked Scottish salmon with caperberries and shallots or warm salad of black pudding, quail egg and tomato to start the meal. Followed by: ribeye steak with bearnaise sauce, watercress and chips; corn fed chicken breast roasted with lemon, garlic and rosemary, served on mash with butter sauce fillet of salmon nicoise with saffron potatoes goats cheese and potato tart served with deep fried tomato sorbet. With desserts of: chocolate truffle cake, minted anglaise and mascarpone ice-cream or peach clafoutis with thyme ice cream. The wine list has house at £12.95 a bottle, or by the glass at £3.40.
