Spotted Dog, The Description
After your stroll round Penshurst Place where better to take some refreshment than the Spotted Dog, a traditional weather-boarded old pub, renowned for its panoramic views over the Weald. The whole place reeks of antiquity and the large garden will seat up to 350 if need be, and it quite often does for the pub itself is not big. The blackboards list such delicacies as wild boar sausages, heart-warming soups, splendid steaks and vegetable curries. There is a good choice of wine, with house wine at £9.65.

What a terrible disappointment; we've been going to The Spotted Dog for many years but haven't been recently. As we were going to be in the area on Sunday we thought it would be brilliant to have a great Sunday lunch. Sadly it was anything but great. The service was adequate, the starters abysmal and the mains, just not what was expected. If you want a traditional Sunday lunch avoid this place until the current owners realise that they need to serve good quality, traditional and locally sourced food cooked from scratch not just warmed up to barely tepid.

We have been to The Spotted Dog on many occasions over the last seven years and have never been disappointed. Ten of us went there for a friend’s birthday recently, were served quickly and efficiently and the food was fabulous.
