Square, The

As a birthday gift, my girlfriend treated me to lunch, with two life long friends, at The Square. The greeting at the door was both professional and human, making us feel at home and flush with expectation. We were briefed on the superbly varied menu and the sommelier assisted us with the extensive wine list. We ordered variedly and were presented with dishes of superb appearance and flavours. Portions can be on the limit and could be considered a bit too small, but were excellent nevertheless. Our wine, which fully matched our meal, was fine indeed. It is a friendly and warmly decorated restaurant with space between the tables to move around. On a weekday lunch time, it is a mixture of patrons who are significantly business oriented. It was a truly special gift and we reluctantly left with a nice warm contented glow. I strongly recommend this superb restaurant. It deserves all its awards.

Went with my wife on 1st July 2005 for my birthday dinner. First visit to a 2* Restaurant in the UK. I was not disappointed. Food was superb and we felt well looked after with out being over powered. The staff have got it just right. Strongly recommended if you have deep pockets but worth it nonetheless.
