St Benedicts has received a makeover and emerges with a new look as a contemporary restaurant. There is a lengthy menu which does not lack for originality and it is possible to eat well here. A well-travelled wine list takes in some thoughtful selections, with house wine at £9.25.

I was looking forward to our meal there. With only one waiter to do everything, we had to continually wait for drinks, the food was nothing special and the music stopped while we were still having our meal as it was past 2pm. I will never go back again.

I had read good things about this place so was excited to eat dinner there, but it was so disappointing. It made me think that the kitchen was left to the junior staff even though it was a Friday night. My husband's cheese soufflé was completely sunken and I think it was served in a completely wrong dish for it to keep any sort of shape. My starter was salty. They didn't charge for the soufflé, but it really shouldn't have been served. Our main meals were also salty and the service was amateur. The manager was very nice and helpful, but for these prices, I really expected much more from this place. I will definitely not be going back.
