St John's Bar & Dining Room Description
St John's is one of the more accomplished London gastro pubs boasting a separate dining area at the rear of the pub complete with open kitchen. There's the obligatory blackboard based menus and you'll find a great atmosphere most nights. Treat yourself to traditional favourites such as steak in a beautifully rich green peppercorn sauce or seared to your liking swordfish on a bed of herbed couscous. Desserts are guaranteed to tempt with you both classic and new taste combinations and as with any self-respecting gastro pub, the wine list will delight.

A truly awful experience! The staff were completely uninterested in serving our table, the food was cold when it arrived and the vegetables were raw. We weren't asked if we wanted any extra drinks whilst we were eating or whether everything was ok. When we refused to pay the £15 service charge because of the lack of service and the quality of the food, the response was a grunt! No questions or apologises! Avoid at all cost.

June 2006 - usual chef must be on holiday... we were served chilled thin sliced beef for "roast rib of beef" - yuck - and my partner was served a risotto which must have had water, rice, carrot, water and water as ingredients. School dinners were a lot better. Staff were unrepentant.
