St Peter's Hall - Restaurant Description
Rich in history and brimming over with romance of an era long gone by is St. Peter's Hall in Bungay, Suffolk which combines these dual aspects admirably with two more - superb food and drink, making it the ideal location for a special meal. The decor doesn't detract from the historical features because everything has been restored sympathetically, making this a unique venue for weddings and events. Managed by Wickedly Good Food caterers who provide a cornucopia of culinary delights to savour, they prove that they are as good as their name.
Amongst starters you might enjoy the game terrine featuring local pheasant and rabbit on a bed of rocket leaves with warm toast followed by a main course of fillets of local mature beef fillet served with baby vine tomatoes, smoked garlic and a vintage port jus. A dessert of crushed meringue with cream and raspberry coulis with fresh passion fruit excels on all counts and drinks include beers from their own brewery alongside an interesting wine list.

Your Reviews of St Peter's Hall - Restaurant
Bernard Duffield (18 October 2009)
Here's an update, since my review two years ago. The Essex Company did not take over after all, instead Sam and his firm, Wickedly Good Food have come in. The food is even better than before and the offerings change daily. Most of it is sourced locally, only line caught fish is served, the food is often organic. There is a great variety and the lunchtime menu is about £20 for three courses and the evening and weekend menu is about £30. The wine menu is extensive and there are draught and bottled St Peter's ales to wash the food down. It takes some finding by road, but the effort is worth it.

I live a couple of miles away and always take our visitors to St. Peter's both for the excellent real ales and the food. I have found the food to be of very good quality with both regular menu and a daily specials board. Most food is locally sourced and often organic, catering for both carnivores and vegetarians. Most food really is made in the kitchen. Fish and Chip Evening is on Wednesdays; the size of the fish is a real challenge and the quality is excellent. The average cost for a main course is about £10-£13. Weekends have set two or three course meals, with three courses about £18-£20. Be quick if you want to visit as the present people, Valerie and Nigel Hindle as there are there till February. A catering firm from Essex then takes over, so who knows?
