St Peter's Hall - Restaurant Description
Home to its own brewery, St Peter's Hall is housed in a former monastery and one has the distinct feeling that the former occupants would have thoroughly approved. Whether they would have been quite so keen on the civil weddings that now take place here is arguable, but it is not everyone who can say they were married in a brewery (nor is it strictly true). The fare is uncomplicated and very dependent upon local grown produce, some in the surrounding gardens. The menu changes every week. Whilst it would be churlish to spurn the product of the house, resort to the wine list can be rewarding and House wine starts at £11.95.

I live a couple of miles away and always take our visitors to St. Peter's both for the excellent real ales and the food. I have found the food to be of very good quality with both regular menu and a daily specials board. Most food is locally sourced and often organic, catering for both carnivores and vegetarians. Most food really is made in the kitchen. Fish and Chip Evening is on Wednesdays; the size of the fish is a real challenge and the quality is excellent. The average cost for a main course is about £10-£13. Weekends have set two or three course meals, with three courses about £18-£20. Be quick if you want to visit as the present people, Valerie and Nigel Hindle as there are there till February. A catering firm from Essex then takes over, so who knows?
