St Petroc's Bistro
New Street, Padstow, PL28 8EA
Yet another branch of the Rick Stein empire, though this time cunningly concealed beneath a good old local name. Alistair Clive has moved from the Seafood Restaurant to take over the kitchen, where seafood reigns, but not exclusively. There is an uncomplicated, perfectly simple seafood trend, doubtless aimed at a sector of the market, and, as with all Rick's enterprises, done extremely well. Good wine list, house French at £12.75.Bistro

REVIEWS OF St Petroc's Bistro
Patrick Beaumont & Louise Boehme. (1 June 2009)
We dined at St Petroc's Bistro on Tuesday. We have stayed in Padstow eight times since 2000; the Bistro is the one Rick Stein restaurant that we consider unmissable. This last occasion really was the icing on the cake. We decided for the first time to deviate from having a fish dish for the main course, instead we opted for the chateaubriand which arrived complete with pommes coq d'or, bordelaise sauce and salad. We were both highly delighted with the quality of this meal and consider it to be one of the finest we have ever tasted. St Petroc's is a lovely place to dine as the staff are very nice and the atmosphere is so pleasant.
Alex Lake (9 August 2008)
We were a group of four adults and two children and found that the service was excellent and the food pretty faultless. Mains of sea bream had superb texture and delicate flavour, the whole lemon sole was fleshy and delicious, ling special was in a rather rich buttery source and very filling, perhaps a touch ‘rustic’ and the haddock was superb. The wine list very good indeed, with plenty of choice around £20 – I would particularly recommend the Picpoul de Pinet. We were fairly full by dessert time but managed to squeeze in a raspberry parfait and a vanilla ice-cream, which were both very good. The bill came to £180 with two bottles of wine, coffee and the 10% service charge. We highly recommend this place and will go again.
