Star Inn
Old Heathfield, Heathfield, TN21 9AH
The restaurant at the Star Inn is situated upstairs in the oldest part of the building; it has a 'barrelled' ceiling and was originally built in 1348 as the dormitory for the stone masons who built the church. The Good Pub Guide 2004 commented: 'The L shaped bar has a relaxed chatty atmosphere, a fine log fire in the inglenook fireplace, with panelling and built in wall settles. The tables are candlelit at night, 'specials are chalked up on boards and there is a decent choice of bar food. The beer is well kept, they do an exceptionally mean Bloody Mary and offer an extensive and well thought out wine list. You can play bar billiards to a relaxing background of classical piped music and outside the prettily planted sloping garden with its rustic furniture has lovely views of rolling oak-lined pastures dotted with sheep. The restaurant at the Star Inn is situated upstairs in the oldest part of the building; it has a 'barrelled' ceiling and was originally built in 1348 as the dormitory for the stone masons who built the church. REVIEWS OF Star Inn
Debgreen (17 September 2010)
The Star is a fabulous old inn, equally welcoming on a sunny day or on a cold winter's evening. The owners Mike and Sue are very attentive, the food is imaginative and good value with large plates of local food. The Aberdeen Angus Sunday roast is a cracker and there are always lovely fish dishes. We have dined here several times, and have loved every meal. Do yourself a favour and visit (book though)!
