Steven Saunders in Newmarket Description
Steven Saunders in Newmarket is a deceptive high street oasis with decadent, modern design balanced by its simple, fresh and organic 'tapas style' menu. The look of the place is thoroughly contemporary, no fuss scheme with a traditional edge, the restaurant is small, intimate, stunning and informal.
The food is simple, seasonal, no fuss, purely organic, with an eclectic mix of fresh seasonal and local products from the area. As with an oriental restaurant, little dishes are served in the centre of the table with some excellent organic ingredients, local game and a little Japanese influence with organic wines and beers.
Steven Saunders is a renowned chef and restaurateur, he holds an impressive sum of credits to his name. He was the launch chef for BBC¹s Ready Steady Cook and appeared regularly on the show for four years. Steven features in Who's Who, he was once the owner of the famed Pink Geranium and is among only 17 Fellows of the Master Chefs of Great Britain.
An ambassador for organic food here in the UK, Steven speaks and demonstrates on his subject all over the world.
Your Reviews of Steven Saunders in Newmarket
Richard Connolly (14 August 2007)
I had visited Steven Saunders in Newmarket with my family. The whole experience was fantastic. The gorgeous maitre de (I believe it’s Steven's chic) welcomed us upon arrival, took drinks order, which we drank out side on a sunny evening. The choice was perfect and the food was fantastic. Steven arrived half way through and took time to say hello to each individual table. We asked him some tricky questions that he answered honestly - nice touch. The price was what you expect at this type of quality restaurant. We paid about £40 per head which included plenty of wine, some had two and some three courses, pre dinner drinks, and coffees/liqueurs - all in all it was an excellent choice.

My wife and I visited Steven Saunders in Newmarket on Saturday 21st April to celebrate my wife’s birthday. On arrival we were greeted by the manager and ordered two drinks to be delivered to our table. Twenty minutes later still no sign of the drinks or menus. We had to ask our very helpful waitress to sort out the problem, which she soon did. When the food was brought to the table it was nicely presented and tasted good. This was our fourth visit to the restaurant and each time, apart from when it first opened, it has become worse. Good food but a bit expensive for what it is.
