Straits Brasserie

8-9 The Strait, Steep Hill, Lincoln, LN2 1JD

The excitement of diners at Straits Brasserie in Lincoln is palpable, because it seems to be a real find whether you look at it in terms of the food or even the ambience. Formerly known as Viela, this restaurant brings two unlikely cuisines together, Brazilian and modern British, and it is this sense of novelty that embellishes the enjoyment of the customers. Friendly service and a laidback atmosphere also contribute to the satisfaction levels considerably. All the dishes are prepared using only fresh locally produced and sourced ingredients and might feature a traditional Lincolnshire stuffed chine with homemade piccalilli while the Brazilian side emerges with the exotic xin xim, chicken and king prawns cooked in cashew and peanut sauce.

REVIEWS OF Straits Brasserie

Rachel (4 September 2010)

We had a fabulous meal with great friendly service. I had a sea bream fillets special with really tasty couscous and my husband had the Brazilian chicken and prawns for main, some home made bread and yummy pork ribs and crispy fish platters to start. We sat upstairs in the garden in the sun, which was really peaceful for being so close to the city centre. I would recommend for a great informal meal, couldn't fault the meal at all. Well worth a visit! We'll be recommending it to all our friends!

Excellent food, service and ambiance! We had a wonderful night there with my family after friend’s recommendation that had been before. We had a small child and one fussy eater amongst us but that didn't prove to be a pain, the chef was very friendly and made arrangements on his menu to accommodate all our requests. One can definitely tell when professionals are passionate about what they do and this place is a clear example of that from front of house to kitchen. They made us feel welcomed from the moment we stepped in. If you haven't been yet, don't miss it. Food is fantastic, the king prawn, chicken dish and the Brazilian national dish - sorry cannot remember the names! The black bean and sausage stew are to die for!
