Stranded in London

If a name can conjure up the idea of the restaurant, then this one certainly hits the spot, for Stranded in London is located as you might have guessed on The Strand, and is a remarkable Italian restaurant which has been around from 1983, although under a different name. Well located in the heart of theatreland in Central London and housed in an old mock Tudor building with heaps of character, it seems to be the perfect venue for casual or fine dining.

Their cuisine is not limited to only Italian, as there seem to be definite British and Mediterranean influences with dishes such as fish and chips making an appearance alongside lasagne and tagliatelle. Start with a platter of cured meats and marinated vegetables and follow it with a fillet steak in a blue cheese sauce with sautéed potatoes, or maybe grilled calf liver with bacon. The drinking experience is excellent as well with the Italy being featured prominently alongside French, Argentina, and New Zealand.
