Sun, The

Writing a review on a restaurant is not something I would normally indulge in but The Sun in Cupar is one of those special restaurants that you need to share with others. It is located on the main street with its entrance hidden down a discreet side alley. The decor is modern and very tasteful and there is a wonderful atmosphere from the moment you walk in. I counted the tables and it seats about 45 people. Mien Host, Jules, it seems an accomplished chef in his own right, has a very friendly team around him and nothing was too much trouble for them - welcoming, attentive and fun. The menu is relatively small but the choice of dishes has clearly been well thought out, and has a good selection of wines and beers that are available. The prices were reasonable too. Now to the food, well Gordon Ramsey just eat your heart out mate. All fresh ingredients and cooked with an obvious passion. The combinations of flavours in the dishes was something I had not expected and truly enhanced the whole experience. Nothing was pretentious, just really good. We ate there twice over the New Year including New Years Eve and it was great. Would we go back again? You bet we will.

You did a lavender cheesecake a while ago, and it was amazing; I’ve never had anything like it before and I've tried to make it but to no avail. The food is great - Scottish food is the best. It’s a pity more people don’t realise that.
