Suruchi Indian Restaurant
14a Nicolson Street, Opposite Festival Theatre, Edinburgh, EH8 9DH
Britain's love affair with Indian food dates back to the 1800s during the colonial era, but Indian cuisine has evolved significantly over the years and has now made inroads into Britain, where places like Suruchi Indian Restaurant invite diners to indulge in a remarkable discovery of food and culture from various regions of India. Even the design elements are chosen with care and the minimalist look is appealing. Novices to Indian cuisine can break new ground with veggie haggis fritters, truly a triumph of international co-operation, while the rest could try salmon tikka, garlic king prawn or chicken kebab wrapped with potatoes and spices. Move over baltis, dhansaks and dopiazas, as Suruchi's exclusive curries such as lamb Malabar cooked in garam masala, black pepper and coconut milk and nirvana chicken simmered lemon grass, mustard seeds, curry leaves, lemon and creamed coconut make their way to an appreciative clientele.Britain's love affair with Indian food dates back to the 1800s during the colonial era, but Indian cuisine has evolved significantly over the years and has now made inroads into Britain, where places like Suruchi Indian Restaurant invite diners to indulge in a remarkable discovery of food and culture from various regions of India. The food festivals at Suruchi are good evidence of the never ending passion for Indian food in a city like Edinburgh, where loyalty to their own outstanding cuisine remains as strong as ever.

REVIEWS OF Suruchi Indian Restaurant
Javed Khureshi (18 November 2007)
It’s been a while I am living in Edinburgh and being an Indian it was quite depressing to go for an Indian meal or a curry until we found Suruchi. The restaurant truly defines its brand name. The food is really tasty and there is no difference in authenticity. The Haggis fritter and south Indian lamb curry with black pepper is my favourite and butter chicken is a must. The ambience in the restaurant reminds me of India. The staff were very helpful to our needs. It is very spacious and well maintained. These all made me a regular customer and will recommend everyone to have a pleasurable Indian meal in the Suruchi restaurant.
Janis McWalter (21 June 2007)
Had a meal at Suruchi, opposite the Festival Theatre. Fabulous flavours and great service. Unusual Indian cuisine. None of the cheap hot curries. Enjoyed the atmosphere.
