Sushi 101

8-12 Queens Avenue, Muswell Hill, London, N10 3NR

The Raglan Hotel in Muswell Hill has turned its front bar into the very stylish and contemporary Sushi 101, bringing about some much needed freshness in the hitherto lacklustre dining options in the area. Bold red and black colours grace the walls while cream leather banquettes create just the right contrast to lend an air of sophistication and elegance to elevate the dining experience admirably. Typical sashimi and nigiri coexist peacefully alongside some innovative additions to the menu such as grilled baby lamb chops with miso sauce or the dragon roll with barbequed eel and avocado. Thin slices of turbot and fresh morsels of fatty tuna and yellowtail nigiri vie for your attention alongside pan fried wasabi scallops and futi maki rolls.

REVIEWS OF Sushi 101

Sushi fan (15 December 2008)

I was sorely disappointed. I must have been there the week after the reviewer below and still had a shocking experience. We arrived at 7.45 pm and didn’t even get drinks until 8.30. Our food started to arrive finally in dribs and drabs from 9 pm, and the order wasn’t quite right. We had almost left by this point, but we were so hungry that we stupidly stayed. Much of the cooked food was clearly defrosted, and the sushi and sashimi did not live up to the cost, even if they were offering 50% at the time. There was only one waiter for the whole restaurant - only eight people - who was very nice and calm, but clearly unable to get the chef to actually make the food in a timely fashion or to any noteworthy taste. We will not be returning and I advise you don’t go either.

Sushilover (29 November 2008)

Do not eat there. As a local sushi lover I was extremely disappointed with this place. The sushi chefs were awful, the service was bad and expensive, and they ran out of coca cola and beer as well on a Saturday night at 8 pm. The restaurant was practically empty; surely that says enough.
