The metamorphosis from the pub-like exterior to the bistro-ish interior survived, you are free to enjoy the simple, well turned out fare on offer within. For lunch perhaps the crab tart? Night beckons and your thoughts may turn to roast smoked haddock on potato mash with spinach and a poached egg.

We popped in to sample the cocktails and after a Pimms and mojito, we were very impressed. The bar staff were informative, and their presentation and panache really made for a great afternoon.

I have had lunch there on several occasions, with work’s parties of over ten, and for small dinners of six to eight people, and always the food and service have been of a very high standard. Fresh local ingredients were always used. We are having a private room this Sunday evening for ten, so fingers crossed for another good evening.
