Taman Gang

If you are looking for a cheap night out, forget about planning a trip to Taman Gang. If, on the other hand, you are looking for somewhere a little different, where aspirations are towards the top of the tree, think again.

There are interesting touches all over the place, ranging through the décor (very Indonesian in places), to the serving staff and the very live DJ who maintains the right levels of sound and funkiness, the heavy mahogany furniture and the rich silks of the Orient.

Every day a handsome selection of dim sum is offered between 12pm and 3.30pm, dinner is served between 6pm to 1.00am. Amongst the dim sum expect to find three colour dumpling, soft shell crab roll or vegetable bean curd wrap, to name but three. Small dishes could include mango and prawn spring roll, black truffle and Asian dressing. Travelling via a salad to the main courses cast an eye over the lobster with beef tomato and ceviche dressing.

The meat courses yield little treats like Wagyu beef with spicy ponzu and shiso dipping sauce, or champagne lamb cutlets with plum wine and wild honey glaze. Seafood can yield marinated black cod in fresh hoba miso and black bean, or salt and pepper prawns flashed in a wok, with green pepper and spring onion.

A very ambitious wine list matches well with the Voss water.
