Inspired by the munificent lotus flower, this hybrid hub goes through many transformations and moods in a day making it a hot spot for Londoners. It is, first and foremost, a serious fine dining restaurant serving Chinese, Thai, Chettinad, Malaysian, Singaporean, Vietnamese and Burmese dishes. It also doubles as a bar, gallery, club and, during non business hours, a venue for business gatherings. Specially commissioned video content designed by video artist Jean Pierre Dangmann adds to the chic interior.
Chef Manish Mehrotra leads the kitchen supported by a wine list compiled by Charles Metcalfe. Start with sweet chilli lotus root, chives and fresh coriander, and tossed baby idlis - soft rice cakes - with cashew nuts and Madras gun powder, before moving on to masala morels with water chestnut and herb lemon rice. A coconut and palm sugar brûlée with elderflower sorbet could bring to a pleasant end this exotic experience.

My first visit to Tamarai after reading some great reviews about this place. The whole purplish interior was very appealing to me and my friends. The cocktails were great - we were there at the club night on Friday and had a blast. The food was great with the perfect taste and portion size. The whole vibe around this place was very chilled out and great fun. Should definitely party here more often!

We tried this place for a last minute birthday meal and we couldn't have made a better choice. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. They had thoughtfully dressed the table with a birthday banner, without prior arrangement, which was a sweet touch. Initially I was quite skeptical about this place but it surprised me in more than one way. Thank you, Tamarai for a lovely evening. Food was fantastic, appropriate portions, good variety, freshly cooked and all at a decent price - worth for the experience we had. I would recommend this to everyone!
