In 1967 we were still deep in the discovery of what then passed for Chinese cuisine in Britain. In Rusholme what was probably the first Indian restaurant in the area opened that same year, bought two years later by the Hussein family, a family fusion of Persia and India. To this day the Husseins carry the two cuisines through in happy union at the busy location half way down Curry Mile. The Persian dishes are generally milder and could feature Koresteh Gormeh Sabzi, a lamb stew with red kidney beans well suffused with herbs. The food is all halal.
