Terra Restaurant

Located in the heart of Fitzrovia, Terra offers a range of dishes from Mediterranean countries like Spain, Greece, Italy and Turkey, leaving the customer free to roam to their heart's content through a medley of flavours and techniques that is truly impressive.

The main menu sets a smart pace with starters of grilled aubergine rolls, chargrilled lamb patties, tzatziki with pitta bread and marinated olives, and the fresh daily soup is always worth a glance.

A warm fillet of salmon salad makes a welcome appearance amongst a choice of six main course salads. On a wider front the mixed grill is incredibly good value, with sirloin and fillet steaks served with choices of sauce and the traditional fries. It is not everyday a mixed seafood grill pops up on the menu, but a combination of swordfish, salmon and tiger prawns appeals to many.

With rice as a staple ingredient in the region three forms of risotto are offered, as well as a chicken basque. Nor could pasta be lightly ignored, and with ten variations from which to choose customers are almost spoiled for choice, though for me the spaghetti alla carbonara has an appeal that never wavers.

Amongst the sweet and sticky we find truffle shaped vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and hazelnuts, thoughtfully crushed, and that old classic tiramisu.

A short but business like wine list manages to absorb a range of choices that should satisfy most, and will certainly bring a smile to the faces of those tired of forking out serious money for their wine when drinking in this part of London, as will the early bird menu available between 5 and 7pm, with choices from three courses at less than £10 for two courses, whilst they also offer £13.95 (3 courses) from 6 to 11pm, tremendous value.

The setting of Terra means that it is an ideal place for business lunches or dinners, special occasions when a private room is on the agenda, a visit to the theatre that requires a nearby rendezvous for supper, or when romance is in the air.
