We had Sunday lunch at Terrace Dining Room based on a recommendation and were disappointed. Upon arrival, we were presented with the Sunday lunch menu, priced at £49.50 for three courses. I believe that this is quite high, but if the food and service is good, then the price does not really matter. We found both the food and service disappointing. The menu consisted of just four items under starters, mains and desserts, so the choice was a bit limited, but we found dishes that appealed to us. As a amuse bouche we received a cappuccino of courgette. We all agreed that the flavour of broccoli was overpowering and that of courgette was far to be found. In addition to this, we felt it had too much salt. Three of us had under seasoned foie gras, presented on a bed of lentils, carrots and rhubarb. I think this combination was a complete miss. We had at this stage not yet commented on the food. In my opinion, the mains like seafood risotto, although served in a shell, could have been from the local Italian takeaway. The desserts were a little better, but I think that at £100 per person it was a big disappointment. The view, of course, is wonderful.

Fantastic location, history and views. We selected the menu du jour (£32.00 each for lunch) and thought it tremendous value. First course was rillet of duck and foie gras with asparagus, main - seared cod with creamed potatoes, pudding - pistachio brûlée served with 2 complimentary courses. We came away with appetite fully sated and enjoyed a walk around the grounds.
