The Terrace was the invention of head Chef John Parsons. John built a reputation at some of London's finest restaurants (J. Our party of ten were generally quite disappointed with our meals - and mainly because it came so highly recommended. Lasagne good, steak good, pork good, tuna good. However the cod in provencale sauce was very poor - the fish was not fresh the sauce resembled a tin of tomatoes - cashew nut bake was peculiar. The vegetables were overcooked and probably had come out of a packet. The starters were generally OK - the soup was a thick potage that was supposed to be leek and potato but was very bright green and too filling for a starter - fine for a main lunchtime meal.
The worst however was to come - the coffee was appalling - it was so weak the cafetière did not resist at all when plunged - and we found very little evidence of coffee grounds. There is no excuse for this at all. Added to this the Friday quiz started through a very poor crackly address system - at this point we left.
