Its non-descript location on New North Street may well qualify this restaurant for the 'hidden gem' tag, but Thai Dream has been quietly doing business, slowly building a strong local base and is probably one of those few places to catch up on some truly authentic Thai cooking. Even the interior is done up in an understated way, rightly shifting focus on to the food.

Although the menu follows an instantly recognisable route, the amusingly named appetisers stand out on their own; Siamese twins could mean Oriental vegetables and minced pork in a crispy pancake roll, and tender pork spare ribs marinated in honey and soya sauce are also known as dragon teeth. House specialities of sliced fillet of beef cooked in garlic pepper and herbs, and giant king prawns fried with coriander and Thai spices are flambéed at the table.

The set menus at Thai Dream are a boon to those who are price wise, listing an excellent choice accompanied by fried noodles and jasmine rice.
