Thai Elephant - Leamington Spa

We visited Thai Elephant in Leamington on a Sunday evening for the first time and being a food lover, I hate to say it was appalling. We got seated straight away and the decor was very nice but too many plants made it very humid inside. Drinks were expensive, and I had a pint of Strongbow priced at £2.50, which was not bad but watered down. When I asked for a half for my second drink the waiter told me that they do not do halves, while the table next to me just had a half. We had the chicken satay and crispy duck for starters and the portions were small. It tasted okay but I prefer oven cooked duck, not fried and satay chicken tasted like it was fresh out of a supermarket.

Our mains of seafood special 'sizzler' and sweet and sour chicken 'sizzler' were not sizzling when they came to our table. They were just lukewarm and tasteless. The bill came to £46.50 and we gave £50 in cash but they didn't even attempt to bring the change back to us. They were arrogant enough to assume that was a tip, which was the most annoying thing. All in all, a very disappointing visit.

Thai Elephant is a must-visit and this restaurant ticks all the boxes. It has authentic decor, fabulous food, and plenty of menu choices. The service is fantastic and the staff are polite, friendly and attentive.
