Thai Emerald - Cheltenham

60 St George's Place, Cheltenham, GL50 3PN

This Cheltenham based restaurant is a part of the Thai Emerald group of dining venues that delight diners with their ambience and food. You might just feel as though you have travelled to Thailand when traditional Thai water features, hand-carved teak furniture and picture carvings, and an abundance of tropical plants surround you. Warm and friendly staff dressed in Thai silk introduce diners to the restaurant's wide range of authentic dishes. Their mission to provide 'a unique experience, which embraces all of ones senses' is clearly noticeable. The à la carte opens with a great selection of meat and seafood starters that are served with a variety of sauces. Specialities of breast of duck with aubergines, peppercorn, chilli, garlic and Thai herbs, or the fresh whole sea bass dish of pla yang, marinated in lemon grass, lime leaves, chilli and Thai herbs, wrapped in banana leaf and grilled over charcoal could come next.

REVIEWS OF Thai Emerald - Cheltenham

Brenda (14 August 2008)

I have just got back from the Thai Emerald in Cheltenham, which we booked for our daughter's 21st birthday. It was recommended by someone she works with who had celebrated her 21st birthday there. What can I say? I can't remember the last time we had such an exquisite experience. We arrived a little bit late, to an already almost full restaurant. We were quickly seated by a beautifully dressed lady - I don't think I can call her a waitress because it was like being met by a friend. The ambiance was stunning with soft lights but good 'seeing' light, set with beautiful Thai objet d'art. We didn't have to wait very long for our drinks and meal order to be taken; our starter arrived in a very short time, and what a starter it was. It was huge and full of delicious treats - we booked the banquet meals, which were very good value for money and an ideal mix of starters, then six to seven main meal dishes plus rice and noodles, followed by beautiful mouth watering desserts and tea or coffee. All this for under £20 per head - the fish banquet was just exquisite and just a little extra at under £25 per head. There was just so much food but so varying in taste with meats and fish, which just melted in your mouth. The house wine was excellent too.

I just can't tell you enough that you need to try this delightful, delicious, relaxing experience for yourselves and I am sure you will not be disappointed. The service is professional and fast and nothing was too much trouble. I was so impressed and delighted that our special occasion was made complete with such a gorgeous meal in a superb restaurant.

This has got to be the best Thai restaurant in Cheltenham. Not only is the food fabulous, the service quick (but steadily paced), the atmosphere with the traditional Thai style is outstanding. The set meals really can't be beaten if you are not aware of Thai cuisine. It seems to keep coming! Oh, and leave room for desserts if you can - again spoilt for choice!
