I would like to add my comments on my experience of dining at Thai Orchid. I have eaten in many Thai restaurants over the years in Thailand and the UK. The atmosphere and setting are truly authentic and one feels as if you could be in Thailand. The staff are friendly and well-presented and the food is excellent. The menu is vast and all the food fresh. Good value for money; I would definitely recommend it to my friends and will be returning soon.

We booked a table at their Hereford branch for Boxing Day lunchtime - it was a Christmas treat for my mother and we had been looking forward to some spicy cuisine. When we arrived, however, we were horrified to be told they had decided not to open! Having paid £12 for a taxi into town, we were left standing outside in the cold with my elderly mother whilst their staff said ‘they did not have enough bookings so they would not be opening until the evening ‘and then the door was shut in my face! I did, however, keep my foot in the door - and asked to speak to the manager - I wanted an apology at the very least. An embarrassed member of staff then rang the owner who clearly was not prepared to give us any recompense - not even a coffee whilst we decided where we could go for our Boxing Day meal. She then removed the opening times off the window. Why? Did I really care at that point? Why did they not ring us and cancel our booking - they had taken our number when they took our reservation? We walked down the road in the cold to try and find somewhere that was open that could accommodate us at short notice. We ended up at a local restaurant with several other people who had been turned away from Thai Gallery.
