Thai Orchid

Call me old-fashioned but it does seem slightly incongruous to enter a Thai restaurant in the cathedral town of Exeter, in close proximity to that wonderful Cathedral. However, here we are in the multi-racial society we have made for ourselves, and let's be honest Thai food must be one of the fastest imported cuisines to establish itself in our country. It has also to be said that this particular Thai restaurant does have the style and the service, as so often happens, is exemplary - and refreshing.

There is the customary vast range of dishes, the often agonizing search through which is eased here by the list of feasts or menus which save all the pain. So in addition to the menus for the Business Lunch, the Shopper's Lunch and the 30 Minute Lunch, plus some extra dishes, we have The Ayuttha, The Bangkok, The Chiang Mai, Damnern Sadauk, The Grawan, The Farang, The Goh Samui, The Hua-Hin and The J-San, before even reaching the a la carte menu. To do any of these justice here would, you will readily understand, be a formidable task, so let me just content myself with reassuring you that in general terms the food is good, the service we already know about and putting on one side my natural concern at so many dishes being so readily available, you will find Thai Orchid a good place to eat.
