We tried the Thai Orchid after reading reviews on this website. We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service provided. It’s very authentic considering that it is set in a pub. Lots of decorative wood carving on the chairs and tables made for an authentic evening. The food was really good and the bottle of wine was great. The staff were chatty and friendly and we will definitely be going back.

This was our visit to Thai Orchid but won't be our last! Living a few miles away and looking for a restaurant we hadn't been to before, we found the Restaurant Guide and the single review of Thai Orchid from over a year ago. It’s always risky without recent reviews, but we decided to give it a go. It's very easy to get to, just before the Long Bridge over the Thames heading into Wallingford. The car park is huge, so no hassles there either.

We received a warm welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. The staff could not have been more friendly, helpful or attentive - without being obtrusive. Guided by the previous review, we selected set menu B at £21 each. The great selection of starters were excellent, followed by a refreshing soup. The rice and four main course dishes were all good. Although the two of us didn't clear the plates, we could not even attempt a dessert even though it was included in the price. A real shame because the dessert trolley was packed with fantastic looking sweets. The drinks were at, what I consider as, pub prices rather than restaurant prices. I risked a glass of house red and was really surprised how good it was. Coffee was included in the price and was excellent with free refills. It was a fantastic meal with excellent service, great food, and good value. I was happy to add a tip to the bill, which still came to less than £30 each for two of us and we highly recommend this place.
