This 16th century former pub has evolved with sensitivity into a restaurant to be taken seriously, without forgetting its roots. The emphasis is on fish though not at the expense of other preferences. The fish specials menu changes daily. Integrity of the ingredients is demonstrated throughout and a conclusion of five discreet portions of well-loved puddings is a triumph. We went there on Friday night. The starter was out of this world and I was tempted to call it a night, as nothing could surpass that, but then came the main course - the lamb. There's something in those potatoes that makes them come alive - they were fantastic, and the lamb, perfectly cooked. Then the dessert, I had the chocolate one - again top marks. Overall I'd give it 10/10.

We went to The Angel for our last anniversary and we couldn’t be happier with it. The food and the service is excellent, and the best is the slow pace of the place - you can really relax and enjoy your meal without the waiters trying to turn over tables. I highly recommend it and we will be back.
