The Barge Riverside Restaurant

River Medway, nr Archbishops Palace, Undercliffe, Maidstone, ME15 6YE

The restaurant is located at a permanent berth immediately behind the Archbishop's Palace and within a few minutes walk from the town centre. The design provides an experience of free-floating above the water and features dining seats with views of Maidstone, and probably Kent on a good day. Start your meal with confit and home smoked duck terrine, served with chutney and toasted country bread, and watercress soup with crème fraîche and butter fried croutons. Main course can consist of braised pork belly, apple sauce, roasted shallot jam, fondant potatoes and crackling, or onion and goats' cheese tart tatin, served with summer vegetables and herb sauce.

Lovely meal - good service - great location. Easily the best place to eat within walking distance of the town center. Not cheap but worth it for a treat.

My partner and I ate here last Tuesday. Wow! The staff were lovely and the food was amazing. Absolutely wonderful, I can't wait to re-visit again. The prices were very reasonable and the view, apart from my beautiful man sitting in front of me was very tranquil. Thank you again for a wonderful evening.
