An informal friendly atmosphere, fresh ingredients with high standards of cooking and the best views of the area are a few things that essentially constitute a fine dining establishment, and if you happen to be in Tea Garden Lane the Beacon is definitely something to which to look forward. Originally built in 1895 as a private home for Sir Walter Harris, some original architectural features like stained glass windows and oak-panelling at the bar still remain untouched.

The main menu offers a good choice and could open with starters of wild mushroom risotto cake and marinated venison carpaccio. Main courses could be a seafood lover's haven with as many as four choices of fish dishes, from the roast fillet of local cod and confit fillet of Scottish salmon to seared wild sea bass and deep fried haddock. For the others it could be medallions of pork, marinated loin of Kentish lamb or seared rib-eye steak.
