Not too often you see restaurateurs delve into history and attempt to recreate the magic of the culinary past but The Blind Tiger, in Wandsworth, has done exactly that with its brilliant recreation of drink recipes of a bygone era, in this instance the ?roaring? 20s. With plush sofas, candle lights and gleaming cutlery, the interior is a model of sophistication and elegance, and rich soundtrack and art-deco feel enable diners to indulge themselves in opulent, decadent surroundings.

The menu is predominately British but international influences can also be detected with dishes like potted crayfish served with home baked toast, pickled fennel and cucumber, and mini falafel in flatbread with harissa, salad and a cashew vinaigrette. Move on to a vibrant array of main courses such as pan fried red mullet fillets with confit fennel, watercress, mint and orange salad or pork loin wrapped in pancetta.
