REVIEWS OF The Canbury Arms
Ferrarigirl (28 July 2010)
The Canbury is a local gem, it's one of those places that don’t shout about how fantastic it is; it's quietly understated and that's why everyone who finds it hidden away in the back roads and never fails to return. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed although the service is far from relaxed, being efficient, friendly and attentive. The food is by far the finest in Kingston with prices that are competitive with the many restaurant chains that litter Kingston town centre. Really great, cheap lunch menu, with a full menu plus specials gives you unequalled choice whenever you find yourself there. Great wines, great beers and great place!
Alan Sherlock (24 July 2009)
Have you seen the new breakfast menu at The Canbury Arms? When you purchase a drink, free toast, butter, jam and honey are yours! There is even a toaster so you can produce the exact shade of incinerate you require. There are always newspapers available and whilst you sip your coffee and your toast is cooking, the aromas of gently grilled bacon will drift towards you, just one element of a full English breakfast, veggie option available. Perfect poached eggs will pass you on their way to another table and you will look again at the menu and start choosing, there is no going back now. The coffee is hitting the spot; you have already grumbled at least two items in the paper, when suddenly that magic word shatters your peace, service! Lay your paper down and enjoy your choice. Even the toaster bleeps so you will not have to jump up and down to monitor its progress. All this in a quiet, spacious, comfortable hideaway that is even open at weekends. Can it get any better? Just don't tell anyone.

Don't expect identikit, pre-fab restaurant interiors which are usually a staple of the larger chains; each restaurant is tailored to its local surroundings and customers, offering up a unique restaurant experience to go with the equally unique taste of legendary, Portuguese, Peri-Peri chicken.
