The Cellar Restaurant
24 East Green, Anstruther, KY10 3AA
The Cellar was bought by Peter Jukes in 1982 and has never looked back since. It is now one of the most popular restaurants in Scotland. For the past 17 years three rosettes in the AA Guide has been the norm, and Peter is so highly regarded by other chefs that he was for soem time the Chairman of the Master Chefs of Great Britain. His success is based on impeccable sourcing of the wonderful fresh, natural ingredients available in the Anstruther area, a recognition that the seasons must be respected and economy in cooking processes. Everything that possibly can be is prepared on site, even the biscuits for the cheese. An excellent wine list, with an interesting range of sherries is an unusual addition. The Cellar was bought by Peter Jukes in 1982 and has never looked back since. REVIEWS OF The Cellar Restaurant
Ian Thomson (2 August 2010)
My family, friends, business colleagues and I have been dining at The Cellar at least once a year for the past twenty plus years, and every time it gets better and just better. A very personal and warm welcome is given to everyone. The decor and ambiance is just perfect. The service is discrete and attentive. Oh, the food is fantastic! The bisque is the best in the world and I have challenged chefs all over the world to beat Peter's and they have failed. Looking forward to visiting again on August 2010!
Pamela (6 March 2009)
My, now fiancé and I ate at The Cellar this Valentine's Day. The food was impeccable, every mouthful was a delicacy, and I can’t put into words how good it was. The members of staff are fantastic, very attentive, friendly and warm in manner. Our evening was lovely, my boyfriend proposed and the staff, who were in on the act, were delightful. I have never felt so welcome and at ease than in The Cellar. From the chef, Peter, personally bringing my grain mustard sauce to the table, to the staff being excited to see my ring, I couldn't have asked for a better surprise. Thank you to all of you who made the culmination of my surprise weekend be perfect, that will be treasured for ever. We will be back every anniversary and hopefully lots in between.
