Located in the leafier part of Newington Green Road, its Victorian façade may seem a little prepossessing, step inside and you'll find yourself in a vibrant pub with live music, drinking and food. High ceilings, white walls, paintings and photographs of famous faces grace the interior while the peppy music keeps the mood upbeat.

The cooking here covers classic English cuisine with occasional European influences, so there could be a char-grilled salmon steak served with crushed new potatoes, sun blushed tomatoes and sweet pepper ragoût, and homemade meatballs served in a rich tomato sauce on a bed of pasta topped with shaved parmesan and a side of garlic bread.
