The Churchill Arms
Paxford, Chipping Campden, GL55 6XH
There must be numerous 'heart-of-the-Cotswolds' villages all with picturesque reasons for the claim but villages like Paxford lend reality to the picture. There are views but they don't get in the way of a working village that has at its heart The Churchill Arms. This refuge from a rude wide world has been consistently applauded by customers and critics alike. When it comes to the food, The Churchill Arms sources only fresh ingredients, mainly from local suppliers. Consider starting your meal with a chicken and mushroom pancake; smoked haddock rarebit with a soft boiled egg, or a soothing pea and ham soup. Among mains, breast of pheasant is served with port and green peppercorns while monkfish medallions are accompanied by sweet and sour butternut, and rump steak comes to the table with balsamic onions and blue cheese glaze. There must be numerous 'heart-of-the-Cotswolds' villages all with picturesque reasons for the claim but villages like Paxford lend reality to the picture. For dessert there is triple chocolate torte with raspberry parfait, and sticky toffee pudding. There is a choice of beers and local real ales. The wine list is imaginative and well-priced; there is also a good selection by the glass.
Should you wish to stay, there are four fully equipped ensuite bedrooms.

REVIEWS OF The Churchill Arms
Hamilton (5 January 2010)
My husband and I recently spent a couple of nights at The Churchill Arms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very comfortable and have beautiful views over the fields. We were delighted with our delicious evening meals which totally exceeded our expectations of a small country pub. The welcoming and friendly staff and cosy relaxing atmosphere make this pub well worth a visit. We are glad we found this gem in the Cotswold’s and will definitely be back.
Grindlays (4 March 2009)
I was up and down from London for a wedding and looked for a quaint local pub around Moreton in Marsh. I had heard of the Churchill Arms before and decided to stay a couple of nights. The rooms were good and dinner on Friday night was excellent and the bar had a very good atmosphere with young and old people. Luckily I was staying the night as the place was fully booked. I left Sunday afternoon following a long and leisurely lunch of rare roast beef followed by a fattening sticky toffee pudding. Enjoy.
