The Dering Arms

The Grove, Plukley, Ashford, TN27 0RR

Dering Arms is housed in a former hunting lodge and is acclaimed in the area for its seafood and local ales. The charming building with its pleasant surroundings also offers bed and breakfast to those guests who wish to enjoy a stop over after a good meal. James Buss, the owner, personally manages the kitchen and it is his love for fare from the ocean that has seen this venue gain popularity. Try the Sussex smokies, smoked mackerel flaked into a creamy cheese sauce and flashed under a grill, for starters before moving on to tuna steak pan-fried with garlic and lemon butter and fillet of salmon served with pernod for main course. For those who prefer meat there is rib-eye steak served with cracked black pepper, brandy and cream sauce.

REVIEWS OF The Dering Arms

DS (22 September 2006)

Great seafood restaurant, which is only a 10 minute train ride from Ashford town centre (1 train per hour). Real ales and a good wine selection. Surroundings are an old hunting lodge with open fires. We've struggled to get a table previously so I would advise booking in advance.
