The Duke of Cambridge
30 St Peters Street, Islington, London, N1 8JT
Built in 1851, The Duke of Cambridge has been carefully restored, with the original features and a conservatory was added in the former courtyard. This St Peter's Street gastropub strives to have minimal environmental impact by sourcing from local suppliers, while their fish buying policy has been approved by the Marine Conservation Society and they try to recycle everything, even down to composting their food waste. The organic European menu is changed twice daily and is in tune with the seasons, so expect to find something different every time; chicken and mushroom pie with buttered mange tout and chard make an appearance at summertime. In winter the focus shifts to smoked sprats with beetroot, apple and watercress and horse radish, and there's mutton, mushroom and red wine stew with braised pearl barley and curly kale in autumn.Built in 1851, The Duke of Cambridge has been carefully restored, with the original features and a conservatory was added in the former courtyard. The drinks list at The Duke, from lemonade and elderflower bubbly to the hot and spicy ginger ale and wines are a celebration of all things organic.

REVIEWS OF The Duke of Cambridge
Ladbroke (28 September 2008)
It was a very disappointing experience. I went last night for a birthday dinner and the service was patronising. The food was not great and very expensive - £13 for penne pasta with tomato sauce.
Linda Parsons (10 February 2006)
I was taken to Duke of Cambridge on Jan 22nd this year as a birthday treat from my daughter, we are both very much into Organic food and very pleased to find a pub that catered for us, even though we travelled from Croydon it was well worth the trip, the food is to die for and in my opinion not overpriced the service was good and we were not kept waiting long for our excellent meal (try the pork chops)I had a Vodka and Plum juice and it is a treat, very smooth. The staff are very helpful and as I am severely disabled and in a wheelchair what could have been a problem was not. The only downside that I experienced was that the toilets are down a flight of stairs, but I managed with assistance. All in all the whole evening was a joy and I will certainly be going again (don’t try to kidnap the chef because I tried and he won’t go). My star rating 11 out 10 **********
